My interpretation of the cracks is that the 380
lacks the sophisticated design of the 747; and
its components, from a microscopic point of
view, that is, the molecular adhesion aspects,
are fundamentally insufficient.

Metal has a finite adhesion value.

Exceed that value and a tiny crack becomes a
big crack.

This change happens suddenly, like most mass effects
on Planet Earth.

In my opinion they should have stopped with the 747.
I think the design of the 747 is excellent, and had
the designers thought they could have made it bigger,
they would have. But they did not.
