Mononucleosis is also called the “kissing disasee” because the virus is spread through saliva. The mono sore throat is often severe and lasts more than a week. I have to presume that you are referring to Diabetes Type I or juvenile diabetes.

In this case, the Immune System is extremely active, not degenerated, and has
as its goal the destruction of the Beta Cells of the pancreas.

I wonder if you could clarify what you mean by
the “degeneration of the Immune System”??

I would like to clarify that it is not likely that the cause of many auto-immune diseases is the ‘cells attacking parts of the body’ for no reason.

The disease Psoriasis, for instance, is not caused by the immune system attacking the body. The disease is merely the cumulative result of a persistent inflammatory state which has been brought about by environment or genetic factors. The immune system even helps to coordinate the metaplasia that serves to protect the organism from the effects of the dysfunctional wound-healing.

Diabetes is caused by a degeneration of the immune system, but cannot be construed as ‘attacking’. There is a great misconception that the immune system is suddenly apt to ‘attack’ the host body. While this is clearly demonstrated in some diseases, it is not the case, at least for inflammatory auto-immune diseases. The actions of the immune system are always in response to a stimulus.

Maybe you should look into the raw food diet (mainly fresh vegetables and fruits with nuts and seeds). It completely helped my psoriasis and arthritis. I cut back on grains (especially no wheat) and starches and I’ve never felt better. Since I started taking cordyceps my psoriasis got worse. I think I read somewhere not to take it if you have an auto-immune disease! I’m in dubio because it gives me a lot of strength, my heart works better.

I have Alopecia Areata, and recently ordered and finished off a month or two course of Medicinal mushrooms and cordyceps, I now have a big flare up of my AA, which had been holding steady for about a year or so, did the Mushroom supplements cause this? Did they activate my immune system in such a way as to make it worse? I don’t know If I should order more, or never take them again. Right now I’m sitting scared, watching my hair fall out by the handfuls, please help.

Hi Jan,

There is a standard treatment for most auto-immune
diseases which consist of steroids and, for some,
monoclonal anti-autobodies.

A Rheumatologist is the specialist to see.

A strict realistic prognosis is very difficult to
make for any physician.

I advise the use of “Medicinal Mushrooms” as an
Alternative Medicine help, but not necessarily
a cure. Thesee mushrooms modify the immune
system, and in some cases, result in marked
improvement. They are NOT a cure.

At the moment, no cure is in sight–only symptom
control.

I have ankalosing Spondilitis. Chrones disease, and Hypo thyroid. All are autoimmune diseases. I would like to get info about them as well. I am just learning about them and diet that helps. Please send me any info that you have. Thank you
