PREDICTIONS FOR 2010 NEW TRANSPLANTS

WOOD INTO BONE

PREDICTIONS FOR 2010

MEDICAL TRANSPLANTATIONS

There are two major transplant areas

that have broken out at the end of 2009.

One is a new form of bone and the other

is a new form of artery.

Bones and arteries are destroyed in

everyone with aging. The need for transplants

is universal.

Almost every human being develops

osteoarthritis, which becomes evident after

30-40 years of age.   In middle age, hips, knees,

shoulders and spines are so severely destroyed

that transplants are necessary.

Up until now, metal, generally titanium

or another inert metal, has been used.

The metal must fuse with the bone that

supports it. This process is known as

OSSEO-INTEGRATION.

For dental implants, the Osseo-integration

takes up to six months.

The reason for this delay is that the metal

is essentially smooth and does not have the

millions of channels and cavities of natural

bone. The living bone cells try to adapt to

the metal, but only make a rough scaffold

to hold the metal.

Bones from cadavers are used for some

implants, but these are difficult to obtain

and difficult to carve.

What is needed is a reliable and immense

source of bone so that transplants and implants

around the world can be done at low cost.

ENTER THE ITALIANS

An Italian research team has discovered

how to make bone from wood!

Within five years there will be enough bone

available to provide for bone transplants in

all countries at very low cost.

The rattan tree supplies the wood as the

scaffold for making the bone. The wood is

heated under great pressure and infused

with calcium and phosphorous.

After ten days of treatment the wood has

changed into “bone”.

This is not human or animal bone, but

its shape and chemistry allow human or

animal bone to integrate readily and quickly

into it.

The advantage of this wood/bone is that

no dangerous metal ions will be released.

PREDICTION

I predict that countries in the world

will copy the technique of the Italians and

produce bone/wood for dental implants

and then for joint replacement.

This will be done in 2010.

No country is going to wait for patents

to be granted. The need is so great and

the potential profit so great there will

be no delay.   China or India will be the

first to produce this material in a

large scale.
